SOHO House, Los Angeles
Solo Exhibition
‘labeled’
Waggett’s second solo exhibition in the United States took place at Soho House, West Hollywood, an institution recognised for presenting the work of leading artists, designers, and cultural figures. This presentation marked an important early chapter in the development of her practice, foregrounding many of the material and conceptual strategies that continue to define it today.
The exhibition featured detailed drawings in charcoal, ink, and graphite, paired with bold applications of gold in varying tonalities. These works began to articulate Waggett’s enduring preoccupation with surface, structure, and transformation, establishing a dialogue between meticulous draftsmanship and the charged presence of precious metal.
As a foundational body of work, the Soho House exhibition laid the groundwork for later explorations of memory, value, and material meaning. It also introduced themes of resilience, presence, and the re-framing of ornament that remain central to the trajectory of the practice.
