The Royal College of Art
This summer, Elizabeth was invited to develop new work within the Royal College of Art’s Contemporary Art Summer School. A context renowned for shaping some of the most influential artists and designers of the past century.
The Royal College of Art is the world’s leading university for art and design, holding the number one ranking globally for over a decade. Founded in 1837, it has been a site of radical thought, experimentation, and cultural influence for nearly two centuries. Its alumni include many of the most significant figures in contemporary art and design, among them David Hockney, Tracey Emin, Chris Ofili, Phyllida Barlow, Henry Moore, and Barbara Hepworth. The RCA remains a space where ideas are tested, traditions reimagined, and new visual languages forged, a context that continues to shape the trajectory of global art practice.
During her time at the RCA, Elizabeth worked under the guidance of artist and course leader Despina Zacharopoulou and philosopher Professor Johnny Golding, whose teaching foregrounds material experimentation, embodied knowledge, and the philosophical dimensions of contemporary art practice. Their mentorship encouraged a deeper engagement with the physical and conceptual language of her work, expanding its dialogue with questions of memory, belief, and the sensory nature of experience.
