Luxury lingerie and ready-to-wear brand Fleur du Mal is pleased to present “Elizabeth Waggett: Light, Memory, and the Haunting of Beauty” at its Peep Show Gallery, an intimate space where art, sensuality, and desire converge.
Coinciding with Frieze Week New York, the exhibition unveils a new collection of works by acclaimed artist Elizabeth Waggett, whose luminous compositions explore fragility, transformation, and the lingering trace of memory.
At the center of the presentation are her signature Light Paintings layered with precious metals, oil paint, and found textiles that shimmer and shift with the viewer’s gaze, evoking the light play of silk and lace.
These works are not just visual they’re tactile, physical, and deeply felt. Their layered surfaces echo the sensual craftsmanship of lingerie: delicate, intimate, and intentional. A standout piece, a hybrid still life combining radiant light with the quiet bloom of a rose, mirrors Fleur du Mal’s own recurring floral motifs, where femininity is both soft and strong, sacred and provocative.
Rooted in classical still life and reimagined through a contemporary, feminine lens, Waggett’s work invites slow contemplation. It’s an exploration of what is held, what is lost, and what remains shimmering in between..

“I’ve always been drawn to materials that carry emotional weight—lace, gold, old fabric fragments—things that speak quietly of memory and transformation. Fleur du Mal’s work with French lace, and their ability to blend refinement with bold femininity, echoes so many of the themes I explore in my own practice. This collaboration felt instinctive—a shared language of strength, delicacy, and meaning beneath the surface.”
