Rich Man's Shoes
Rich Man's Shoes
25 x 30” / 64 x 76 cm
Archival pigment inks with 22 karat gold leaf and silk screen spot varnish on Somerset cotton paper with a hand deckled edge.
Ed. 20
This work is hand finished with 22k gold leaf. A silk screen varnish enhances the sheen of the shoe while the subtle texture of the paper also mimics the leather. This small edition of only 20 is a collectors piece. Each piece is unique.
This piece invites the viewer to question the value we place on material things. Too often we judge success based on wealth, property and possessions. We evaluate people on how they look and what they wear and consider this as a marker of accomplishment. ‘Rich Man’s Shoes’ is a figurative representative of this judgement. Is prioritizing wealth as a determining factor of happiness genuinely important?
